Pillar 05 of 05Smart Nation Framework

Smart Living.

Verifiable quality-of-life impact, household by household — the human dividend of the energy transition.

Smart Living measures what energy actually does for people. The other Smart Nation pillars are means; this pillar is the end. A solar system that turns on but does not produce a refrigerator full of vaccines, a child finishing homework after dark, a small mill running into the evening, or a household's lungs free of kerosene smoke — that system has not delivered the human dividend the Renewed Hope Agenda was elected to produce. eVillage instruments the human side of the energy transition with the same rigour it applies to kilowatt-hours and naira disbursements. Diesel and kerosene displacement is tracked litre-by-litre at the household level. Indoor air quality co-benefits are measured against federal health protocols co-designed with the Federal Ministry of Health. Productive-use appliance deployment — refrigeration, milling, water-pumping, agricultural processing — is logged household by household, because productive use is the mechanism by which energy access converts into income, food security, and economic resilience. Every tonne of CO₂e displaced is verifiable, attributable, and aggregable into Nigeria's Nationally Determined Contributions under the Paris Agreement.

Policy Context

Why this pillar matters — and how eVillage delivers it.

Smart Living measures what energy actually does for people. The other pillars are means; this pillar is the end. A solar system that turns on but does not produce a refrigerator full of vaccines, a child finishing homework, a small mill running into the evening, or a household's lungs free of kerosene smoke — that system has not delivered.

eVillage instruments the human side of the energy transition with the same rigour it applies to kilowatt-hours. Diesel and kerosene displacement is tracked litre-by-litre. Indoor air quality co-benefits are measured against federal health protocols. Productive-use appliance deployment — refrigeration, milling, water-pumping, ag-processing — is logged household by household, because productive use is what converts energy access into income.

Climate accounting is built in from the metric layer up. Every household tonne of CO₂e displaced is verifiable, attributable, and stackable into Nigeria's Nationally Determined Contributions. The platform turns village-scale clean-energy adoption into a credit-worthy climate asset — and gives institutional ESG investors a direct line into measurable Nigerian climate outcomes.

How eVillage Operationalizes It

Capabilities under this pillar.

Diesel & Kerosene Displacement

Track every litre of fossil fuel replaced — at the household, vendor, and community level.

Emissions Accounting

Verified tCO₂e accounting per household — auditable for carbon credit issuance and NDC reporting.

Productive-Use Appliances

Tracks deployment of refrigeration, milling, water-pumping, and ag-processing equipment that monetises energy access.

Household Reliability SLAs

Guaranteed uptime tiers per household with automated credit issuance when SLAs are missed.

ESG & Climate Reporting

Investor-grade ESG disclosures aligned to GRI, SASB, and TCFD frameworks — straight from platform telemetry.

Co-Benefit Measurement

Survey instruments capturing the health, education, and income co-benefits of clean energy access.

Federal Alignment

Built in coordination with federal mandate-holders.

Smart Living measures the human and climate dividend of energy access. eVillage instruments these outcomes against Nigeria's environmental, health, and climate-commitment frameworks.

Federal Ministry of Environment

Emissions reporting, environmental compliance, and ecosystem-impact assessment frameworks — eVillage data feeds directly into the ministry's national environmental dashboard.

National Council on Climate Change

Carbon credit issuance pathway and Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) reporting. Every household tonne of CO₂e displaced is logged on the NCCC verification stack.

Federal Ministry of Health

Indoor air quality and household health co-benefit measurement protocols. eVillage health survey instruments are co-designed with FMOH to capture clean-energy health dividends.

NDC Implementation Framework

Linkage of household-level emissions data to Nigeria's Paris Agreement commitments — turning village-scale impact into nationally reportable climate outcomes.
